Y-Adapt: Youth Action on Developing Adaptation Plans for Tomorrow

2024

Y-Adapt, or Youth-Adapt, is a games-based curriculum designed to inspire understanding and action around climate change. Created specifically for middle school, high school, and college students, the each interactive, one-hour session highlights how youth are integral to climate adaptation in their own communities.

Each session is accompanied by a downloadable facilitation guide and supplemental resources. The guide describes the "real world" objectives of each activity so that students and teachers alike can connect curriculum concepts to their daily lives. The curriculum is modular and flexible, and can be taught across 5 weeks or intensively within 3 days.

After engaging in each session's hands-on activity that illustrates the complexities and opportunities of climate change respoonse, the curriculum culminates with a project wherein students collectively develop and implement an adaptation project in their own communities.
