Resource Pack: Core Global Health Country Profiles

2024

This resource pack includes a selection of country profiles that display curated data relevant to the health of specific populations. Educators are likely to find these useful for comparative assignments and learning activities. Profiles vary in terms of their use of tables, graphics, and interactives.

Profiles vary in their degree of emphasis on general population health, sustainable development, human development, thematic health areas (e.g., nutrition, food security, environment, and health), specific sub-populations (e.g., maternal-child health) and selected diseases (e.g., HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria). Many are associated with major global reports, while other are maintained as a web portal by global health organizations with a mandate to provide open-access data.

Profiles were chosen that are open access, reflect high-quality standards of documentation, and that provide stratified data to better understand how health conditions and the "conditions for health" (i.e., the social determinants of health), vary across sub-populations within countries, and how that variation reflects social inequities.

Explore the GHELI Repository to find additional resources, both general resources (e.g., reports, articles, country profiles, etc.), teaching resources (e.g., portals, cases, lessons, etc.), and collections (e.g., resource and teaching packs).
