Lancet Series 2021: Women's and Children's Health in Conflict Settings
2021
This Lancet Series explores the unique requirements of providing sexual, reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health and nutrition services in conflict settings. The changing nature of today's armed conflicts--more urbanized, using less conventional methods--has dramatically shaped what humanitarian work looks like on the ground and how women and child access support. Other papers illuminate the indirect impacts of conflict on women and children that far exceed its direct impacts, as well as gaps in consensus about what interventions to prioritize for these populations. The series also offers a framework to support decision makers in how to modify health and nutrition interventions for different conflict contexts.
Series papers include:
- The Political and Security Dimensions of the Humanitarian Health Response to Violent Conflict
- The Effects of Armed Conflict on the Health of Women and Children
- Delivering Health Interventions to Women, Children, and Adolescents in Conflict Settings: What Have We Learned From Ten Country Case Studies?
- Delivering Health and Nutrition Interventions for Women and Children in Different Conflict Contexts: A Framework for Decision Making on What, When, and How
The series papers are also accompanied by an executive summary.
