Adolescent Health Dashboards

2021

These country profiles from UNICEF focus on national policies and plan to combat non-communicable diseases in youth and adolescents. Each country profile is broken into three sections: context, the burden of disease, and risk factors. Context provides demographic information – including the total population; the population living below the national poverty line; air quality standards; adolescent birth rate; and adolescent mortality rate by age group – and information on national policies and plans. The national policies focus on physical inactivity, nutrition, the minimum age for consumption of tobacco or alcohol, contraceptives, user fee exemptions, and taxation of sugar-sweetened beverages. The policies are color-coded depending on whether the country has enacted them. Disease burden outlines the causes of mortality and disability for those aged 10-14 and 15-19; and risk factors provide information on the social determinants of adolescent health. Also included is a regional dashboard covering the same indicators but on a global level.
