News Literacy Project

2024

The News Literacy Project, a nonpartisan national education nonprofit, develops programs and resources for educators and the public to generate the abilities needed to be active consumers of news and information. The organization hopes to build news literacy, or the ability to determine the credibility of news and other published content so that the public can determine which information to trust, share, and act on. The organization has numerous educational tools, including Checkology, a platform designed to aid students in identifying misinformation; a resource library comprised of lessons, classroom activities, infographics, and quizzes; an educator newsletter; along with many other materials and programs. These tools and materials are suitable for discussion-based activities in online, hybrid, or in-person environments. The News Literacy Project also offers several free resources for the public, including a podcast, smartphone applications, a newsletter, and tips and tools to sharpen news literacy skills.
