Changing the Service Delivery Model: How to Make It Happen?

2020

This case from the Western Public Health Casebook 2020 follows Ruksana Kadam, the 2SLGBTQ+ Programs and Community Engagement Manager at the HIV/AIDS Caring Communities (HACC). In this case, Ruksana must develop and implement a new service delivery model at HACC—a process that would dissolve the organization's current teams (HIV/AIDS, 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, those who need harm reduction services, and African, Caribbean, and Black communities). The new plan would reorganize the current teams into two: a health promotion team and a community engagement team. Through this case, students will explore both the promise and pitfalls of organizational change, understanding the issue through the eyes of community members, funding organizations, and partner organizations.

This case contains guidance for instructors, including learning objectives and discussion questions. It is part of a 16-case collection written by students in the MPH class of the Schulich Interfaculty Program in Public Health at Western University, Canada. The cases may be freely copied and used for educational purposes by an accredited educational institution.
