Children with Disabilities Report 2021

2021

This report from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) analyzes the wellbeing of children with disabilities across more than 60 indicators, including nutrition, access to water and sanitation, protection from violence, education, happiness, and more. There are nearly 240 million children with disabilities or about 1 in 10 children worldwide – with many experiencing a greater likelihood of exclusion, limited access to education and essential care, and discrimination. This report aims to document the scale and characteristics of children with disabilities, highlighting their life experiences and the types of challenges they face – and make visible the needs of children and people with disabilities globally. Using data from over 100 countries, the report presents the first-ever global and regional estimates of children with disabilities. The report is accompanied by an executive summary.
