World AIDS Day Report 2023

This report from the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) draws on the role of communities in addressing and driving progress in the global AIDS response. This report, which marks World AIDS Day 2023, discusses the successes of community-led interventions toward ending AIDS as a public health threat - from improving access to essential HIV services, advocacy and educational efforts, pioneering innovation, and providing emergency response. The report also analyzes the challenges facing communities and barriers to community leadership, such as a lack of resources and funding. The report calls on policymakers and governments to prioritize community leadership in the global AIDS response, highlighting the importance of community-led responses by people living with HIV and other key populations – to drive change toward ending AIDS by 2030. The report also includes case examples and narratives of community-led interventions toward addressing HIV/AIDS in countries worldwide.
