World Water Development Report 2023: Partnerships and Cooperation for Water

This report, published by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on behalf of UN-Water, examines how partnerships and increased cooperation across sustainable development could accelerate progress toward ensuring the right to water and sanitation for people worldwide.

The report outlines the state of the world’s freshwater resources and current progress toward the Sustainable Development Goal targets for water and sanitation (SDG 6). The report primarily explores perspectives on partnerships and cooperation from various water-dependent sectors, such as food and agriculture, the environment, human settlements, industry and energy, human health, and climate change. The report includes regional perspectives on water-related partnerships, and discusses ways to build partnerships that ensure water is protected and sustained for all– through education, innovation, financing, and more.

The report is accompanied by an executive summary and a fact sheet of key statistics and figures.
