Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project

2024

The Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED) is a crisis mapping and data analysis project focused on political violence and protest events worldwide. Created in 2005, the ACLED collects real-time data on dates, actors, locations, deaths, and types of reported political violence and global conflict events. The ACLED aims to collect high-quality, disaggregated data on global conflict and violence and conducts analysis exploring and describing conflict scenarios and patterns for practitioners, researchers, governments, journalists, and the public to use.

ACLED produces an interactive data dashboard, which maps out global conflict and political violence data in real-time. It also produces Early Warning & Forecasting Tools, or interactive resources to anticipate and respond to global crises, including the Conflict Alert System (CAST), the Volatility & Risk Predictability Index, and the Conflict Change Map. ACLED offers a Data Export Tool which allows users to access and download all political violence and protest data, along with regional portals that provide real-time data and analysis for each global region. Users can view informational resources on utilizing ACLED data through the resource library, and explore reports, fact sheets, and infographics using its Analysis portal. ACLED also collects data on various special projects, such as the Nigerian Election Violence Tracker and the Ukraine Conflict Monitor.
