Lancet Series 2016: Urban Design, Transport, and Health

This Lancet Series explores the impact of city planning on the health and well-being of urban residents. With the majority of the world’s population already living in cities, the urban environment contributes significantly to the global noncommunicable disease (NCD) burden through air pollution, physical inactivity, noise, social isolation, unhealthy diets, and exposure to crime. The series specifically examines how coordinating urban design, transport planning, and other sectors can help make progress towards the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in high-, middle-, and low-income countries.
