Refworld is a tool created and maintained by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and is the leading source of information for making quality decisions about the status of asylum-seekers and refugees. Refworld focuses on providing information on international and national legal frameworks, policies and laws, and country data to help government officials, judges, and UNHCR staff members decide on refugee and statelessness status. It aims to support the UNHCR’s goals for protecting international refugees and stateless people. Refworld works to offer a streamlined and accessible approach to finding relevant protection and legal information. 

Refworld allows users to search for and find information easily, with resources organized by topic and keyword, by region, by publisher, or by document type. Its UNHCR portal includes country positionspolicies, and thematic guidelines. Refworld offers a comprehensive legal collection designed as a tool for promoting international law related to refugees, asylum seekers, stateless persons, and other persons of concern to UNHCR; it includes documents and jurisdictions, international judgments and decisions from the United Nations, regional courts, and the European Court of Human Rights, state parties reports, training manuals, and more. Users can also use a search tool in a case law portal and can browse case laws by country, topic, judicial body, and legal instrument. Other resources include country profilescountry reports, and maps. Refworld offers an A-Z index for all resource types and links to the general UNHCR website.
