Kids Count Data Center

2023

This data portal from the Annie E. Casey Foundation tracks data on the well-being of children in the United States at local, state, and national levels, with the goal of stimulating richer, evidence-based policy conversations. The Kids Count Data Center draws timely data from rigorous national resources and more than 50 Kids Count State organizations, across multiple topics: demographics, economic well-being, education, family and community, health, and safety and risky behaviors.

The data portal accompanies the 2023 Kids Count Data Book, published in conjunction with the Population Reference Bureau (PRB). The annual report presents state and national data on child well-being in the United States as it relates to four key domains: economic well-being, education, health, and family and community. Kids Count delves into these topics using data on 16 key indicators, which are also broken down by race and ethnicity to examine disparities between groups.
