Preventing Drowning: An Implementation Guide

This report from the World Health Organization (WHO) addresses the accident of drowning, specifically focused on providing strategies for its prevention. The report points out that over 90% of drownings occur in low and middle-income countries and mostly affect children. It brings to light many of the causes of the drowning that are often overlooked as well as approaches to prevent such tragic incidents. The prevention methods proposed include installing physical barriers, educating key stakeholders on implementing safe strategies, promoting collaboration across sectors, establishing national safety water plans, and building capacity to withstand risks posed by floods and other disasters.
