Financing for Sustainable Development Report 2024

2024

This report from the United Nations Inter-Agency Task Force on Financing for Development highlights the global sustainable development crisis, finding that financing needs for sustainable development are widening, threatening the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 2024 report emphasizes how global financing challenges have put progress toward the SDGs and climate action at risk, with unmet financing needs estimated at $4 trillion for developing countries. The report discusses the importance of resilient development and calls for urgent, large-scale investment to achieve the SDGs by 2030 and prevent further climate catastrophe in countries worldwide. The report outlines four sets of actions to address the financing crisis: 1) close financing gaps for SDG and climate investments, 2) close policy and architecture gaps, 3) close international and domestic credibility gaps, and 4) formulate new development pathways.

The report is accompanied by an executive summary.
