Bending the Curve Towards Gender Equality by 2030

2020

This report from Equal Measures 2030 assesses global progress on the five key gender equality targets: access to contraception, girls’ education, political leadership, workplace equality laws, and safety. Half of the 129 countries studies will not meet these global goals by 2030 at the current pace. Even in countries with higher levels of gender equality, progress has remained uneven or stagnated over the last decade. The report outlines common priorities for moving the needle on global gender equality—such as government prioritization and coordinated investment—and emphasizes targeted support for the most marginalized girls and women (e.g., Native American and Alaska Native women in the U.S.). The report also highlights promising examples of countries who have successfully accelerated progress for women and girls on one or more of the five gender equality indicators.
