Urban Indicators Database

2024

This data portal from the United Nations Human Settlement Program (UN-Habitat) provides resources focused on urban indicators and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11, which is making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. Urban data collection and production is variable around the world, and many countries and cities do not have current practical methods for urban data production. UN-Habitat produced a series of e-learning materials for cities and organizations to use in order to compute SDG 11 indicators, measure progress, and collect data. The portal includes datasets on types of human settlement spaces and urban population trends, data visualizations for users to interact with and explore, a series of related publications on urban issues and development, guidance documents to break down SDG 11, urban observatories (online models for urban data collection and analysis), and a special portal of urban data related to COVID-19. The COVID-19 portal includes city-level COVID-19 data, data on informal settlements and facilities, and COVID-19 readiness and response tracking by city. Users can organize these resources by theme, by type, and by SDG.
