International Men & Gender Equality Report

2022

This report from Equimundo highlights men's attitudes and practices towards gender equality over the past 15 years. Half of men have seen their fathers as primary decisionmakers at home, and more than a third did have fathers who participated in any household chores. The report also finds that exposure to violence and conflict in childhood and adulthood has deep ramifications for men's views on gender equality. Women and men who observed gender equality at home in childhood hold more equitable attitudes as adults. Moreover, men who believe in gender equality are less likely to engage in risk-taking, substance abuse, and less prone to depression and suicidal thoughts relative to their counterparts with more restrictive gender attitudes.
