World Trade Report 2023: Re-Globalization for a Secure, Inclusive and Sustainable Future

2023

This report from the World Trade Organization (WTO) examines how increased international cooperation could address three main challenges facing the global economy: national and economic security, poverty alleviation, and environmental sustainability. As global crises such as geopolitical conflict, growing inequalities, and climate change propel risks to people and ecosystems, the need for cooperation to ensure a secure, sustainable economy remains dire. This year’s report analyzes the benefits of re-globalization, or integrating more people and economies into trade, to better address global challenges, strengthen multilateral cooperation, and avoid fragmentation.

Chapters include:

  • Chapter A: Introduction
  • Chapter B: The Reshaping of Global Trade
  • Chapter C: The Impact of Security Concerns on Trade
  • Chapter D: Re-Globalization to Reduce Poverty and Inequality
  • Chapter E: Re-Globalization to Promote Environmental Sustainability
  • Chapter F: Conclusion
